...with a frozen food shop called Freezerworld, owned by our parents Christine and Paul, it ran very successfully for many years until Iceland and Safeways came to the town, Mum said "things have to change" so we started selling cards displayed in old ice cream tubs, this worked so well, we removed more freezers and introduced more cards and gifts.

In 1998 we expanded to the second floor to extend our giftware ranges, and in 2009 Kathy and I bought the business from our parents, allowing them to retire after all their hard work.

We have introduced many well known suppliers to our shop over the years, including Hallmark cards, Yankee Candles, Border Fine Arts, Willow Tree, Jellycat and Qualatex Balloons to name a few, and in 2010 we became a Thorntons franchise.

We have both started right at the bottom as Saturday girls, and continue to work in the shop on a daily basis, we pride ourselves on our customer service, and always try to go the extra mile.

Burnell's is a franchise for Thorntons Chocolates a Hallmark Gold Crown Shop and Yankee candle stockist.
